Episode 53: Cool Trick to Fix Elbow and Wrist pain and More Biggest Loser Talk

Let's be clear about episode 53. As a personal trainer it breaks my heart to see all the bad information out there on how to lose weight and get in shape. On the other hand, as a podcaster I always have great material to talk about.


The Biggest Loser show is one of the biggest (no pun intended) offenders in this regard. I found a great article from Dani Shugart on the "4 Biggest Lies of the Biggest Loser" and we spend a lot of time going over this excellent article.

I also revisit the refernce to Biggest Loser in the last show where I actually (I still can't believe it) defended their tactics.

Episode 52: Ghost Story part 2 and Hell Freezes Over

I never thought the hell freezes over podcast would happen but it has. I actually defend the Biggest Loser show. I debated on this but I need to be fair about this stuff. There is a former contestant saying how she was abused and tortured. 


What's next? Contestants from Fear Factor complaining because they had to eat disgusting food?

Anyway, the ghost saga continues as the spirits are defined and the cleansing is due to take place next week.

I offer some very unusual but good advice for popping shoulders.

To finish up I answer a couple Yahoo questions which are now retitled "Yoohoo baby Questions".

Some of these I have a little fun with and some I take seriously. See what you think.

Welcome to episode 51!


Technically the ghost is not in my gym but I do have a client who has something funky going on in her basement where her gym is located. She is having a psychic/spirit chaser/medium coming over tonight and I will be there for the fun.

Next I answer questions. I test the theory that there is no such thing as a dumb question. Just kidding, jeez.

Actually I like answering questions and these are some pretty good ones.

Episode 50: Oopaloompa rant, Myworkoutpro.com debut and the Workout of the Week

Hey look at this, episode 50!!!!

On this action-packed show I rant about this weird obsession we Americans have with spray on tans. Not the ordinary spray on tan but the shade of orange last seen in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory with the Oompaloompas. I just can't figure it out.Actually I can and I go into the deep psychological reasons one would dye themselves orange.

Moving on, I find a new use for the Manta Ray squat device.

Next I make the formal announcement about www.myworkoutpro.com my new online training site. if you are reading this, the site should be open to the public. Check it out.

Finally we end with the workout of the week. This is a circuit so you will need to download an interval timer. Just search HIIT timer and you will find one.

So you remember the drill. 3 rounds.
Beginners set your timer for 40 seconds of work and 20 seconds rest.
Intermediates set your timer for 45 seconds of work and 15 seconds rest.
Advanced set your timer for 50 seconds work and 10 seconds rest. You advanced types might want to try all 3 rounds without a rest.

For this workout you will need a kettle bell and some dumbbells and or bands. If you don't have one of these, use your imagination and substitute.

This workout is taken from the MyWorkoutPro website under High Intensity programs. The site contains full explanations of the exercises along with hd videos.

1. Kettle Bell Swings
2. Side Squats (left side)
3. Side Squats (right side)
4. Mountain Climbers
5. Reverse Crunches
6. Punches with bands or dumbbells
7. Rows with barbell, bands or dumbbells or even pull-ups
8. Squat and press
9. 5 curls then 5 kickbacks. Get in as many as you can.
10. One legged calf raise. Alternate every 5 reps.
