Episode 78: The Big leap and Why my 67 year old clients can Out squat you!

August 27, 2015
00:0000:00

Well, on second thought my older clients may not be able to out squat you. But they squat. They also do push-ups. Why? Because I am not going to put them in a chair and make them screw around with thin, tiny rubber bands and 2 pound weights, that's why. Perfectly safe if you know the technique.

Anyway, this is a rambling episode that discusses the book by Gay Hendricks, " The Big Leap:Conquer Your Hidden Fear and Take Life to the next Level." I will be honest, I bought it for myself and found a lot of good things in here for my clients,
We also have a short discussion about the insignificance of certifications in the fitness industry. Lastly I talk about why strength and conditioning for fat loss is superior to other fat loss methods.
Thanks for listening.

Episode 77: Paleo Bashing Fools and Functional Training Demystified.

August 19, 2015
00:0000:00

Hi Everyone,

I begin this episode with a great quote from Mark Rippetoe and his book "Strong Enough?" that basically defines what functional training is and is not. That is the high point of the podcast and fortunately it occurs early.

The middle part of the show revisits the idea that you don't have to let body parts rest between workouts. Just a little clarification was needed from last week's podcast.

Next we move to the comedy section of the show where the Huffington Post publishes an article rebuking the Paleo diet. As usual, the writer has the facts wrong which doesn't make that big a difference since she doesn't get the concept either. Episode 76: Feral Hogs, 1 Mental Habit You Need and 1 Workout Habit You Don’t

August 13, 2015
00:0000:00

Welcome to episode 76. In this episode I am going to talk about 1 mental trick you can use to put yourself in the right mindset all the time. It helped me great deal with a feral hog at the DMV. (Again, she didn't look like a hog, she just behaved for one). There is also discussion about the idea of not training the same body part everyday. This is something I want to talk more about next episode because I really didn't to cover it the way I wanted to.

In the mean time, here is the link to the 100-day Squat Challenge. Great article and an amazing feat of discipline.

Episode 75: A Cool Weight Loss Story, Born Again Fitness People and a Lesson on Hydration

August 5, 2015
00:0000:00

I found a cool fitness story on Yahoo, okay stop laughing, about a guy that loses 100 pounds. He does everything right and he achieved his goal in a year. Okay, it just happens that everything he does are things I have mentioned on this podcast but this is not about me. It is about Todd.

We also talk about the other side of fitness. The people who go through a change and feel it is their duty to tell everyone how to live their life. Even if they are right, they can be pretty annoying. Finally we talk about staying hydrated in the summer and why 12 glasses of water a day may not be helping you.
